"A true leader is someone who works for the betterment of the whole - leading by empowering, guiding and serving others." - Karen Klumpp, MACRAO Past President
Committees are the heart and soul of MACRAO. They contribute to the development of our
organization and its members. Committee membership offers many benefits: promoting our organization, professional development,
and statewide networking opportunities.

Constitution & By-Laws (pdf)
How do I join a committee?
Complete a
Committee Application Form.
You may list one or more committees that interest you, and return the form to the name provided.
You will be placed on a committee, and notified of your membership and the name of your committee chair.
Please note that it is important for committees to represent a range of colleges and universities, which affects
how committees are assigned.
How long is the commitment?
Committee members serve a three year term.
What are the responsibilities of committee membership?
There are several requirements to be aware of:
- Attend committee meetings set by your committee chair.
- Assist your committee in developing innovative and useful session proposals for the annual conference. Committees can present individual sessions, or draw on the expertise of area leaders in the field.
- Complete special tasks for any event sponsored by your committee.
Are there opportunities for leadership development?
Yes, each committee has a chair and a co-chair (who becomes the chair the following year). Also, committee membership and leadership are taken into consideration during the nomination process for executive committee positions.
